Community Gardens

The Town of Vermilion Environment Committee is proud to provide the opportunity for our community to come together through the Community Garden Program.  Being a part of a community garden program provides a great opportunity to grow healthy food, enhance neighborhoods, meet new friends, enjoy the benefits of outdoor activity during the growing season, and share gardening knowledge and experience.

There are currently 3 Community Garden sites within the Town of Vermilion.  The First United Church Garden is located behind the church at 4918 – 52 Avenue and accommodates up to 5 gardeners. The Brennan Garden is located on the far northwest end of 53 Avenue in the Brennan subdivision.  This is one of our newest locations and is in a quiet picturesque area of town.  You will feel like you are gardening in the country! The Recycle Center Garden is in the Recycle Center yard located at 4018-52 Avenue (east of the Airport Terminal Building).  This is another new location and is in a non-residential area where you can garden in a quiet spacious spot and dispose of your recyclables at the same time!

All gardeners pay a nominal membership fee which helps cover the cost of maintaining the sites.  In return, gardeners are offered a great opportunity to become a part of a “growing” urban phenomenon.
